Short answer: the Changan Nevo Hunter REEV is a double-cab 4x4 pickup that always drives on electric motors. A 31.18 kWh battery gives up to 131 km of pure electric driving (NEDC), and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine acts only as an on-board generator, taking the combined range past 900 km. Two motors produce 240 kW (322 hp). Changan Pakistan lists it at PKR 10,990,000, including freight and CVT, in a single REEV Plus 4X4 variant.
All figures below come from Changan Pakistan's official Hunter page and the Hunter REEV brochure, checked on 31 October 2026. The diagrams and sketches were made by QuettaWheels to explain the technology.

What is REEV technology?
REEV stands for range-extended electric vehicle. It sits between a plug-in hybrid and a pure EV:
- The wheels are always driven by electric motors. The Nevo Hunter has one motor on each axle, which is how it gets 4x4 without a mechanical transfer case.
- The petrol engine is not connected to the wheels. It turns a generator that makes electricity for the battery and motors. Think of it as a small power station you carry with you.
- You can plug it in. With a full battery, daily trips of up to 131 km (NEDC) can be made without burning petrol.
- When the battery runs low, you simply refuel. The engine starts, generates power, and the truck keeps driving like an EV. This is where the 900+ km combined range comes from.

Where the REEV parts sit in the Nevo Hunter
The X-ray sketch below is traced from the real truck. It shows roughly where each major part of the REEV system sits. Changan has not published an official cutaway, so the positions are approximate.

The four ways it moves
- Pure electric (EV mode): the battery powers both motors and the engine stays off. This is the quiet mode for city driving.
- Range-extender mode: when the battery is low, the engine runs the generator, and that electricity drives the motors and tops up the battery.
- Power Boost: the battery and the generator supply power together, so both motors can deliver full output for overtaking, climbs and rough terrain.
- Regenerative braking and charging: when you slow down, the motors act as generators and send energy back to the battery. You can also charge from AC (6.6 kW) or DC (41 kW), and power outside equipment through V2L (3.3 kW).

REEV vs hybrid vs plug-in hybrid vs EV

The key difference is that a hybrid or plug-in hybrid can usually send engine power straight to the wheels, while a REEV never does. That is why a REEV drives like an EV all the time, but never leaves you stranded when there is no charger nearby.
Is the Nevo Hunter REEV right for Quetta and Balochistan?
Why it may suit you
- Long distances between cities and limited fast chargers on many routes make a range extender practical: you can refuel at any petrol pump.
- Two-motor 4x4, 220 mm ground clearance, hill descent control and a 2,500 kg towing capacity suit rough roads and work use.
- V2L (3.3 kW through two 220 V sockets) can run tools, lights or appliances at a site, a farm or during power cuts.
- It is cheap to run on electricity if you can charge at home or at work every day.
What to check before buying
- At PKR 10.99 million it costs far more than conventional diesel pickups, so work out how many kilometres you drive and what you save on fuel.
- Changan has not published an official fuel consumption figure for range-extender mode on its Pakistan pages. Real economy will depend on load, speed and terrain, and on how often you charge.
- If you rarely plug in, the truck will run on petrol most of the time, which reduces the benefit of the REEV design.
- Ask about battery warranty, service support in your city, and a home charger installation.
