The Honda CG 125 costs Rs 238,500 (kick start, 4-speed) in Pakistan as of November 2026, while the self-start CG 125S is Rs 286,900 and the CG 125S Gold is Rs 296,900, according to Atlas Honda's official website. It remains the go-to 125cc bike for riders who want toughness, easy repairs and strong resale — but the basic model is old-school, and the extra Rs 48,400 for the self-start version buys more than just a button.

What's good

  • Built for bad roads: The simple air-cooled OHV engine, 18-inch front wheel and long-travel telescopic fork cope well with broken city streets and unpaved village roads around Quetta.
  • Easy and cheap to fix: Almost every mechanic in Pakistan knows this engine, and spare parts are widely available, including in Quetta and smaller towns across Balochistan.
  • Strong resale: The CG 125 is one of the easiest bikes to sell second-hand, which softens the higher upfront price.
  • Load-friendly: A favourite for courier work, shop deliveries and carrying a passenger plus luggage.

What's not so good

  • Dated basics on the standard model: Drum brakes and kick start only, with a 4-speed gearbox.
  • Price jump: At Rs 238,500 it costs Rs 78,600 more than a CD 70 (Rs 159,900), so it only makes sense if you actually need the extra power.
  • Cold starts: On freezing Quetta winter mornings, kick-starting any carburetted bike takes patience. The self-start CG 125S helps here, but keep the battery healthy.

CG 125 vs CG 125S: which should you buy?

The CG 125S adds a self-starter and a fifth gear. That fifth gear lowers engine revs at cruising speed, which helps on longer runs such as Quetta–Kuchlak or Quetta–Mastung, and should mean a calmer ride on highways. It is also 8 kg heavier.

Pick the standard CG 125 if you ride mostly in the city, want the lowest price and the simplest bike. Pick the CG 125S if you do longer highway trips, ride in cold weather, or have family members who struggle to kick-start.

The Gold version costs Rs 10,000 more than the CG 125S; ask the dealer exactly what the extra money gets you before choosing it.

Running cost: a quick way to work it out

Because fuel averages vary with riding style, load and road condition, measure your own: fill the tank to the brim, note the odometer, ride normally, refill and divide kilometres by litres. Then:

Monthly fuel cost = (km per month ÷ your km per litre) × petrol price

Example (illustrative only): if you ride 1,000 km a month, your bike does 35 km/l and petrol is Rs 350/litre, fuel costs about Rs 10,000 a month. Plug in your own numbers and the current petrol price.

Buying a used CG 125 in Quetta

Second-hand CG 125s are plentiful. Before paying:

  • Check the engine and chassis numbers match the registration book and smart card.
  • Listen for knocking or tappet noise from the engine, and look for blue smoke.
  • Check the chain and sprockets, brake shoes and fork seals for leaks.
  • Make sure the bike has no pending token tax or challans.

Verdict

The Honda CG 125 is still the sensible, durable choice for Pakistani riders who need more than a 70cc bike. For city use the standard model is enough; for highway trips, winter mornings or a bit more comfort, the CG 125S is worth the extra money.
